1979 Colorado Springs, USA: Caught playing with matches. To ‘cure me’ of this curiosity, Mom gives me 30 books of matches and tells me to light them all. She means one-by-one. I light the whole pile at once.
1989 Brasil: Travel with church missionary school group, performing as ‘The Singing Texans’. Mid-trip, I give up trying to convert them to my world view to learn more about theirs.
1990 Anniston, Alabama, USA: Win local civic club scholarship for essay on ‘Being American’, written in less than 30 minutes, as a joke. As a deterrent to teen smoking, I write & sponsor a state legislative bill requiring stores selling Camel cigarettes to keep a live camel on premises. Earn Eagle Scout rank.
1991-1996 SouthEast region, USA: Volunteer, work with, then lead University Program Council, producing over $2M in entertainment events for students and community. Work 500+ concerts and theatrical shows as everything from truck driver, to stage hand, to lighting designer, to production manager, to producer.
1993-1994 Orlando, Florida, USA: Win a competitive internship as Entertainment Technician in Walt Disney World’s College & Internationals Program. My roommates are French, Italian, Norwegian, & Chinese. Graduate Disney University with Ducktorate Degree in Disney Management Methods.
1995 Auburn, Alabama, USA: Graduate Auburn University with Bachelors of Electrical Engineering.
1995-1996 Birmingham, Alabama, USA: Co-found an early-adopter integrated internet & media production startup, which is still in business under leadership of original partner, Jay Brandrup.
1996-1997 Baltimore, Maryland USA: With Signal Perfection Limited (SPL), I help design, engineer, manage, and/or build AV technology systems for NFL & World Cup sports stadiums, Disney theme parks, and Mills themed malls.
1997 Nevada, USA: Take a 2-week trip to Las Vegas and stay for 7 years.
1997 - 1999 With SPL, I lead the design and build of AV and control systems for the Bellagio Fountains, Cirque du Soleil’s “O”, and 7 major Las Vegas casino resort hotels, including Bellagio, Paris Las Vegas, and The Venetian (see article). Install the first major Line Array speaker system in North America, now the industry standard.
1999 Speak as part of an expert panel on modern sound design at LDI entertainment technology show.
2000 Start Imagination Integration Group (i2g), an entertainment design company.
2000 Black Rock City, USA: Perform a choreographed firing of 100 meter tall tongues of flame, as a member of Burning Man’s Impotence Compensation Project.
2000 - 2003 For Fashion Show Las Vegas, i2g co-leads design & build of $18M design/development of integrated entertainment retail systems (see press). We create the first physically-animated LED billboards on the Las Vegas strip.
2002 For Cirque du Soleil’s “O”, i2g installs the first LCS VRAS acoustic manipulation system (now Meyer Sound’s Constellation) in the US.
2003 Siem Reap, Cambodia: Trekking at Angkor Wat, I’m struck that my recent work won’t last 90, or even 9 years, while the structures in front of me are still standing after 900. I decide I can’t build another mall or casino. I close i2g and go back to school.
2003 - 2007 USA: Rather than re-entering university, I create my own Masters of Personal & Professional Development program. I spend thousands of hours and dollars in workshops and seminars on leadership, meditation, real estate, spirituality, entrepreneurship, design, consciousness, architecture, communication, public speaking, team-building, network economies, global challenges, and more.
2003 Start At Large, a creative design company.
2003 - 2006 Through At Large, lead start-up effort to create world’s first seamless floor-to-ceiling 360 video wall venue. Ultimately we shelve the project as the technology to create and display content is still too expensive. (By 2010, I’m seeing partial realizations of this idea in concerts and other events.)
2004 Fashion Show wins Archi-Tech Magazine AV Awards (Best of Destination Mall category)
2004 Boulder, Colorado, USA: Join Integral Institute President’s Circle as a Charter Member. Assist in growth of organization dedicated to workable progress in all areas of human life.
2004-2005 Member of Inaugural Year of Mark Victor Hansen & Robert Allen’s Inner Circle entrepreneurial study group.
2004 Start real estate investment company Community Growth Group and buy and build 15 houses in metro Las Vegas. Hike across the Grand Canyon 2 times.
2005 Park City, Utah, USA: Inaugural member of Positive Deviant Network, a group of entrepreneurs inspired by Buckminster Fuller and working to understand the most effective ways to use business as a tool for positive change. Led by Marshall Thurber, creator of Money & You global workshops.
2005 Boulder, Colorado, USA: Co-create BlowUpYourBrain! classes on personal development and accelerated learning, with Lawrence Kampf.
2005 Married writer Tara Lindis.
2005-2006 I am financially over-leveraged when the Vegas housing bubble bursts and eventually file bankruptcy and have 6 houses foreclose. Attend the school of hard knocks. I was on the leading edge of the rise, fall, and fallout of the credit crisis that triggered the current economic turmoil. Hike across the Grand Canyon again.

2009 Invited to participate in prototype event of the World Resources Simulation Center. Co-design a virtual facility demonstrating the concept.
2010 Sentosa, Singapore: Open Universal Studios Singapore as Attraction Manager for ‘Steven Spielberg Presents: Lights, Camera, Action!’ special effects theatre.
