John Childers taught me a valuable lesson in real estate investing. Say “I’ll take it – if I can work out the details”, rather than “If I can work out the details, then I’ll take it.”
One of my core philosophies in life is moving toward what I want, not away from what I don’t.
In causing extraordinary experiences, I practice this approach. When an idea is presented that could enhance the experience, I say, “Yes, and it has to be feasible.” I don’t say, “If it’s feasible, we should consider it”.
By intentionally greeting possibilities with “Yes, and…”, rather than “If X then maybe…”, the created experience has greater energy, creativity, and joy for everybody.
