I’m often asked what I do for work, and I answer differently every time.
I craft my response partially to speak to the listening of the person asking. Mostly, my answer varies because I’m continually exploring the question for myself.
Exploration is how I bring ideas to life.
I am a proponent. That is, I am a champion for an idea. I’m the person accountable for the realization of the full potential of an idea. For me, this means connecting with an idea from multiple approaches.
I assemble and guide teams in collaboratively creating and expanding our understanding of what’s possible and desired. We collectively explore the idea, and our assumptions and questions around it. We map our discoveries, and plan our strategies within our expanding understanding of the idea’s possibilities.
I turn ideas into something real.
Making a possibility real in the world is what I do. I take a vision (mine or someone else’s) and bring it to life by guiding a team of people to design, develop, build, and implement the vision.
I give ideas real meaning in people’s lives.
Making a possibility personally meaningful to people is why I do what I do. Creating products, services, and experiences that make the value of an idea real in people's lives is my purpose.
I cause extraordinary experiences.
I ‘cause’ as a proponent, making ideas reality. Extraordinary experiences occur when these ideas are meaningful in people's lives. Causing extraordinary experiences = bringing ideas to life.
